Volunteering

Give your time. Build a connection. Make a difference in someone’s life.

Three ways you can help

Work with clients

Provide practical help or social connection: support an older person to attend an appointment, visit someone who is isolated, assist a person with disability or explore mentoring and family respite.

Raise awareness

Bring friends and family together through a morning tea, film night or community event. JewishCare can discuss support such as speakers, films, catering or venues.

Support the office

Help with reception, welcoming visitors and administrative tasks that keep services running.

Explore the possibilities

Availability changes. Ask our volunteer team which programs are recruiting, what the commitment involves and what training or checks are needed.

Connection and mentoring

Ask about Links visits for older people, Big Brothers Big Sisters, BIG Connections and Young Adult Mentoring.

Disability programs

Explore support with Coolanu, Print35, Weekend Away, New Dimensions Social Club and Camp Sababa. Roles and suitability depend on each program.

Practical and seasonal help

Ask about gardening support and packing or delivering YomTov parcels around Pesach and Rosh Hashanah.

Shared time and family support

Explore Shabbat dinners at Fischl House and Family to Family Respite, which offers time with another family and a break for parents.

Training, support and suitability

Depending on the role, volunteers receive the necessary training and ongoing support. Volunteering can be an opportunity to develop skills, build confidence and take on responsibility.

  • The source volunteering page requires an NDIS Worker Check for volunteers working with older people or people with disability.
  • Volunteers working with children need a Working with Children Check.
  • Time commitments and age or suitability requirements depend on the placement. Discuss these with the team before applying.
