JewishCare offers small Art Therapy groups for people experiencing distress, stress or feeling overwhelmed. Creative expression offers another way to explore thoughts and emotions that are difficult to put into words.
The programme creates space for expressing emotions, self-awareness, confidence and exploring complex feelings. It is about the experience and what it means to you, rather than artistic skill or making something beautiful.
Sessions begin with a gentle check-in. The therapist offers materials suited to how you are feeling. There is time to make art and, where helpful, reflect on it. Sessions close with insights and strategies; journaling between sessions may be encouraged.
