About this support

Support through shared experience

Small, professionally facilitated groups for adults in the Sydney Jewish community experiencing stress, uncertainty or emotional strain. Psychological education, coping skills and supported discussion take place in a confidential setting.

What you will explore

Learn how stress affects body and mind; practise managing emotions and staying grounded under pressure; navigate uncertainty; repair and strengthen relationships; and build resilience and connection in daily life. Sessions combine education, discussion, reflection and practical strategies.

Young adults: two-evening group

The source lists a two-week group for Jewish young adults aged 18–25 dealing with the impact of antisemitism. Two evenings offer practical support and connection with peers; dinner is provided. Check the original event page for dates, availability and registration.

Topics for the young-adult group

Explore stress and its impact; emotional steadiness; changes in friendships, trust and belonging; intergenerational stress and trauma; identity when it is targeted; and what support you may need around the anniversary of Bondi. You may recognise feeling on edge, exhausted, hiding your Jewish identity or wanting practical strategies and people who understand.

Your questions, answered

What is a therapeutic group?

A small, in-person, professionally facilitated group combining psychological education, practical coping skills and supported discussion in a confidential space.

Is this the same as individual therapy?

Individual therapy explores your circumstances in depth. A group focuses on shared experiences and learning from the facilitator and other participants, with the additional opportunity for connection.

Who can attend?

Adults in the Sydney Jewish community experiencing stress, uncertainty or emotional strain. Groups are tailored to life stages and circumstances. The team will discuss a suitable group when you express interest.

What does a session look like?

Education, guided discussion, reflection and practical strategies. Sessions are structured but relaxed, and you will not be put on the spot or pressured to share more than feels comfortable.

Must I share personal things?

Share only what feels right. The facilitator guides discussion with care in a confidential, supportive space.

How many people will attend?

Groups are kept small so participants can feel comfortable and supported.

How do I join?

Use the original expression-of-interest or event registration page. JewishCare will discuss the next available group and confirm your place. An enquiry alone does not confirm a place.
